Kaun Banega Kaptaan?

Rohit Sharma may be ruled out of the 5th Test in Edgbaston vs England starting July 1, 2022. If Rohit is fit and recovers from Covid-19 which he got because of eating a Vada Pav served by Nirav Modi, then he’ll lead Team India as the Captain. Since Virat Kohli has stepped down as the skipper in all formats, Rohit is India’s first choice Test Captain. However, due to his plausible unavailability, Indian Team Management and Rahul Dravid the coach, have a huge dilemma. Who will lead team India?

KL Rahul was named Vice-Captain, but he’s out injured too and getting surgery in Germany. He was caught coming out of the women’s restroom at Frankfurt Airport along with Suneil Shetty’s daughter Athiya Shetty. Nobody knows what happened in there. Regardless, KL Rahul is not available for the fifth test and cannot lead India.

Now the selectors, team management and Rahul Dravid have a few choices. We’ll nominate and summarize for our readers, then request y’all to vote.

R. Ashwin.

1. Ravichandran Ashwin – The Professor.

Ashwin, one of India’s greatest bowlers has a great cricketing mind. He does his homework and knows where to bowl to get a wicket. His planning and execution would be top notch as captain, but his need for having Onion Rava Masala Dosa and Idli Sambhar every morning for breakfast will add unnecessary carbohydrates to the team’s winning chances.

Rishabh Pant

2. Rishabh Pant – The Chaddi.

Pant, a supremely talented batsman and a retarded captain. Rishabh Pant has great shot selection, balls and bravado. What he doesn’t have is brains, temperament and maturity. If Pant is captain, he’ll leave the field halfway through for a bad umpiring decision. He still hasn’t evolved into the full Pant yet, he’s still a chaddi.

3. Jasprit Bumrah – Boom Boom.

Bumrah, now a senior pace bowler has a great calm head on his shoulders. An accomplished fast bowler, he could be India’s best bet for taking over captaincy for this test. But how successful have fast bowling captains been in the past?

4. Cheteshwar Pujara – Not enough Pooja in the world.

ChePu is himself trying to find a place in the playing eleven given his recent form. May not even play this game if Shreyas Iyer or Hanuma Vihari take his spot. But Pujju’s defensive tactics means he’ll never go for the win, just a draw is good enough for him.

5. Virat Kohli – Captaincy se Aankh Micholi

Cheeku gave up captaincy last year. But could we see him make a comeback at the helm of Team India just for this one game? After all India is 2-1 up in the series under his reign. Its only fitting he finishes the series as captain. Just makes sure James Anderson doesn’t bowl him outside the off stump.
